Roma and Jose Mourinho are no longer together. The capital club are ninth in Serie A following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to AC Milan and are winless in three league games. Although Mourinho won the Europa Conference League in his first season, the team has fallen farther down the domestic standings after recent losses to Juventus, Lazio, and Milan.

Following a dismal Serie A campaign, Roma fired Jose Mourinho.
The club experienced a challenging season this time around and are currently ninth in the league. Nevertheless, the Portuguese manager led the team to the Europa Conference League title in 2022 and a run to the Europa League final a year later.
Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin said, “On behalf of all of us at AS Roma, we would like to thank Jose for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club.”

Even though we will always cherish our wonderful memories of his time at Roma, we think the club would benefit more from an immediate change. We hope that Jose and his helpers have the best possible future.

Before Mourinho was fired, the Giallorossi had lost their previous two games in all competitions. Their most recent setback came on Sunday when they lost 3-1 to AC Milan in Serie A.
They currently sit ninth in the standings and five points outside of the Champions League qualifying spots due to their patchy recent performance. In their last seven matches at the top level, they have only managed two wins.

Mourinho’s contract expired at the end of the season, and there had been rumors, up until last month, that he would sign a new contract. After receiving his second red card in as many days during the Coppa Italia derby victory over Lazio, he was given a one-match suspension and was scheduled to return from his touchline ban for Saturday’s match against Hellas Verona.

Less than a month after being let go by Tottenham Hotspur, he was named head coach of Roma in May 2021. In the previous two seasons, he led the team to sixth-place finishes. However, this season, he has been without key players due to injury, including Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham.

Jose Harry Mourinho Potter is the coach, and he raises the bar. The Roma supporters are the most amazing people I have ever seen,” Mourinho remarked.
“We are fighting a very difficult battle, but nobody will tell us we can’t fight.”
Updates regarding the new first-team coaching staff “will follow imminently” as Roma prepares for their match against Verona in four days.
