The former star receiver for the Rebels and current Browns pass-catcher, who displayed a fencing reaction on a routine hit against the New York Jets, was released from the hospital and entered the NFL’s concussion protocol. In a video conference with reporters on Friday, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski gave an update on his condition.

The NFL has faced criticism in recent seasons for both the policy that prevents players from returning too soon and for head injuries sustained by players. A key player in that controversy last season was former Alabama quarterback and Miami Dolphins signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa. He had multiple concussions, including one where he displayed fencing during a “TNF” game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Elijah Moore: what happened to him?

Moore was hit in the head during the second quarter of the Browns vs. Jets game on Thursday. It looked like a standard tackle by Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley. The former spasmed in his arms and neck and lay on the ground as a result.

In the end, Moore was able to exit the field by himself. He didn’t come back to the game.

Update on Elijah Moore’s injury
Following his head injury against the Jets, Moore spent the night in the hospital for evaluation before being released on Friday. His availability for the remainder of the regular season (and beyond) is uncertain as he has since been added to the NFL’s concussion protocol.
