Four Olympic medals with Australia have been won by the 42-year-old three-time WNBA MVP. The Opals will compete in the Paris qualifying tournament in Brazil next month.

At the 2022 World Cup, Jackson completed an amazing comeback by assisting the host country in winning a bronze medal. In that game, she scored thirty points, which helped Australia defeat Canada 95–65. After knee injuries wrecked her career, she retired from competition in 2016, missing the Olympics in Rio. She gradually came back, spending the last few years competing in an Australian domestic league.

She retired as one of the greatest players in league history in 2012, capping an incredible WNBA career.
The World Cup bronze medal-winning team will play in Brazil with eight players, including Jackson. Alongside her will be current WNBA players Ezi Magbegor of Seattle, Sami Whitcomb of Seattle, Bec Allen of Connecticut, and Cayla George of Las Vegas.

There are no easy games because, as Australia’s coach Sandy Brondello noted, “Brazil is first up and they will be tough because of the home crowd. Germany is a team on the rise and we have a competitive history against Serbia.” Our experienced players will truly shine in this situation, so even though we have limited preparation time for this window, we will use it as motivation. We are now fully focused on winning the three games and guaranteeing our Olympic berth.

Four international competitions are taking place in Brazil, Belgium, Hungary, and China from February 8–11. All teams, with the exception of the U.S. and France pods, will qualify for the Paris Games by placing one through three. The World Cup victory has allowed the Americans to qualify for the Olympics. The host country, France, was eligible. Only the top two teams in each pod—aside from the Americans and French—will move forward.
